Escape to Island Spa Catalina

One of my most favorite thing to do when I'm on vacation is to visit a spa. Traveling is stressful as it is when you're packing for the whole family, making sure everyone arrives on time, and making sure you don't forget anything. I like to find time for myself to relax even if it's for an hour. When were visiting Avalon over spring break, I explored ISLAND SPA CATALINA, and it was amazing!

Owned and operated by the Island Company, it is one of the newer spas on Catalina Island and their first destination resort spa. This full-facility which not only has amenities like steam rooms, dry saunas, and locker rooms, they also have co-ed common areas like an outdoor soak pool, hot tub, spa shop, nail salon, and a luxury lounge area with a spectacular view of Avalon Bay. It doesn't get any better than this! When you're on the island, you want to be outside not inside and here is one more way to enjoy it.

I was there for about an hour and a half, and although it was wonderful, it wasn't long enough. What I recommend is getting there at least an hour before your service and just use all the amenities. Pack a bathing suit for the common areas, and you'll find a nice robe and slippers in your locker. Bring like a gym bag or tote to carry a change of clothes and make-up bag if you want to get ready in the locker rooms. Not getting a service, but want to use the facility? Get a DAY PASS for four hours or a full day (waived when you book a 50 minute service). You'll need advanced reservation just in case it's a busy day. One of my favorite thing at the spa is the Eucalyptus spray they have in the showers which is activated by the steam. I purchased one at the spa shop on my way out, and use it at home when I want to create a spa environment. Just spray it on the shower wall and you only need a few sprays. I love it!

If you're ever on the island and you need a break and want to relax, I highly recommend this place. I was super stressed from rushing around and my massage with Kelsey was exactly what I needed. It was such a nice treat for myself and I felt totally spoiled! Find a time when your family won't miss you so much (mine went to the arcade). It was one of the best spas I have ever been to, and I really want to get my girlfriends together and do a day-trip just to use the spa. That's how much I enjoyed it. =)
