TRAVEL: French Market Place, Dining at Mr. B's Bistro, and Best Pralines from Southern Candy Makers in New Orleans

Take a walk through America's oldest city market - the French Market in New Orleans, Louisiana. It's like a swap meet or flea market and you can get all your souvenirs for New Orleans here. They're already a bargain, but don't forget to negotiate.

The French Market is located at 1008 N. Peters Street in New Orleans, Louisiana. For more information, please visit their website at www.frenchmarket.org.

Best Pralines

Within walking distance from the French Market, look for Southern Candy Makers for the BEST Pralines (voted by Bon Appetit's Magazine as Best of the USA).

They also make nice gifts. Check out their packaging below.

Dining at Mr. B's Bistro

For dinner, we had reservations at Mr. B's Bistro. I asked them what they were famous for and they highly recommended the BBQ Shrimp. OMG Delish!

(Hint: There's also a recipe below if you want to try it at home.)

APPETIZERS

Their WEDGE SALAD had baby iceberg lettuce, sliced red onions, diced Creole tomatoes, applewood smoked bacon, and Danish bleu cheese topped with Dijon mustard vinaigrette.

Their FRIED OYSTERS ON THE HALF SHELL came with a half dozen deep fried oysters on the half shell topped with bacon-horseradish hollandaise.

MY ENTREE

MR. B'S BARBEQUED SHRIMP is Mr. B's signature dish! Their Gulf shrimp is barbecued New Orleans style, served in the shells with their famous peppery butter sauce, and French bread for dipping.

You can't eat this without a bib!

Don't be super bummed if you're thinking you'll never get to try this. Mr. B's Bistro shared their recipe for BBQ Shrimp on their website here!  Enjoy!

DESSERT

Their BREAD PUDDING (a Brennan family recipe) is rich in eggs, cream and butter, and is served warm with Irish whiskey sauce. Oh Yumm.
