RECAP: When I Grow Up Day at Pretend City | #WhenIGrowUp @PretendCity

A few weeks ago we went to Pretend City for "When I Grow Up" Day. My kids LOVE Pretend City and were so excited to go! The first person we met was Officer Aragon from the Irvine Police Dept. He was super nice and gave the kids honorary police sticker badges! They thought that was super cool!

We listened to Dr. Lee, a dermatologist from UCLA, talk about how to take care of our skin. He told us to always wear sunscreen, stay out of tanning beds, and never never never smoke!! We got to see lots of pictures of different skin conditions and how to take care of them. My kids were fascinated and listened to every word!

Dr. Sue the Bug Lady, a traveling entomologist, was there to show us her bugs (dead and alive). Kelsey loved seeing the different insects and pet some of them. Dr. Sue is available for classroom presentations, birthday parties, and other events.

Our favorite presenter of the day was J.H. Everett, an Illustrator! He showed us how to draw a sequence of events. He told us that most illustrations are drawn with basic shapes like circles, squares and lines. We learned that it takes 24 pictures for each second of an animated movie! The kids loved drawing their own cartoon sequences!

And of course my kids loved pretending to be all the things they dream of when they grow up.
