One of the many great things about living in Orange County is all the wonderful adventures to be explored! We usually have amazing weather year round and whether we need a vacation, staycation, or daycation, we really don't need to go that far to do them all. One of my family members told me I look like I'm on vacation year-long, and it's kind of funny, but we're always doing something.

This year we were all excited for Great Wolf Lodge (GWL) to open. It's a big deal, because it's our first indoor waterpark in Southern California. Located on Harbor Blvd in Garden Grove, we can't help but notice their giant Howlin' Tornado water slide sticking out from their building waiting for us to ride it.





With 105,000 square feet of water park fun, it includes over 4,000 feet of water slides exclusive to resort guests in woodsy-themed rooms (some with bunk beds) sleeping anywhere from 4 to 8 guests. Great Wolf Lodge has green initiatives by recirculating most of the water in the resort to conserve energy and resources which includes low-flow showers, toilets, faucets, and pride themselves by using one of the best water filtration systems in the world.

Attractions and Entertainment

Many are curious what all there is to offer at Great Wolf Lodge. Some of these are open to the public and not just for hotel guests.

• Daily Character Appearances with Wiley® the Wolf and Violet® the Wolf.
• Story Time – Gather the family in the Grand Lobby each evening to hear a story about the Great Wolf Kids characters before bedtime.
• Wolf Walk™ – Learn about the many animals and wildlife living in the Northwoods and then make an origami wolf to take home.
• MagiQuest® – Battle dragons, befriend a pixie and wave a magic wand in this live-action adventure game throughout the resort. The games feature three unique chapters with their own challenges and quests.
• The Great Wolf Kids® Program includes daily activities for kids including dance parties, face painting and games such as Wiley bingo, character floor memory, and character trivia.
• Howly Wood® XD Theater – A motion thrill ride that transport riders directly into the movie action with amplified effects.
• Howl at the Moon™ Mini Golf is a 9-hole themed indoor miniature golf course. It's glow in the dark mini golf!
• Northern Lights™ Arcade includes more than 100 interactive video and redemption games for prizes.
• Scooops® Kid Spa has ice cream-themed manicures, pedicures and more. Each service will include a real ice cream treat.
• Ten Paw Alley™ is family-style bowling with pint-sized bowling balls. No rental shoes needed!
• Clubhouse Crew is an interactive scavenger hunt starring the Great Wolf Kids characters. (Great for the resort’s youngest guests.)
• Lazer Frenzy is an arcade-style game with the latest in touch and LED technology. Players can see who

In MagiQuest, there are hidden treasures and missions all around the resort. You can purchase wands and toppers at the MagiQuest store on the bottom floor. Flick your wand to collect crystals, open treasure chests and more. Hint: Some of the games are found near the elevator on different floors. I thought the games were a little complicated for my kids, but children all over the resort is playing it, and it's fun trying to find them all. The wand will save your progress. I had fun just walking around pointing my wand to move statues and I like the sound they make when the crystal lights up. Save your wands, because they work at other attractions with MagiQuest.

Creative Station 

Customize your GWL friend for life at Creation Station. Children can pick out their outfits, costumes, and accessories. There are also games at the resort you can play with your new friend.

And of course there's the indoor water park!
