For starters, their Butternut Squash Soup came with maple-glazed pancetta. It's perfect for those chilly days in SoCal. Suggested Pairing: MV Roederer Estate, Brut, Anderson Valley.

Our second course was Mediterranean Sea Bass which came out perfectly with shrimp, cauliflower florets, caper brown butter, and chervil. Suggested Pairing: 2014 Opolo, Viognier, Central Coast.

For our third course, a Fall Vegetable Lasagna which includes housemade pasta, braised kale, mushrooms, parmigiano, and topped with arugula came together so nicely. The pasta was so fresh. Suggested Pairing: 2011 Principi di Butera, Nero d'Avola, Sicilia DOC

Their Deckle Steak as our fourth course was a taste of tender steak, and it comes with sweet potato coins, haricot vert, and herb butter. Suggested Pairing: 2012 Bishop's Peak, Elevation, Paso Robles.

For dessert, warm Apple Crumble served with Straus vanilla bean ice cream was the perfect ending to our beautiful dinner. Suggested pairing: Alvear 1927 PX Sherry.

Dinner that night was quite enjoyable. Executive Chef Steve Kling and the owners came out to talk to us that night. We already love the area and are often down there when we want to enjoy the scenic views of Corona Del Mar and their beach. The food at Five Crowns and SideDoor is always good when we go. Five Crowns is part of the Lawry's Restaurant family and is best known for their prime rib. For more information, please visit their website at www.lawrysonline.com/five-crowns/.
Happy Holidays,
