We went on a tour of the store recently and found that they carry specialized/hard-to-find items in each department (like hard to find replacements for lamps). If they don't have it, they will try to order it for you. If you haven't been to an OSH, their parent company is Lowe's, but their environment is different in a way that it's more inviting and comfortable to shop items for your home, and you get a more personalized experience to customize and make things your own. They're big on paint, backyard decor, hardware, and backyard outdoor like patio heaters, furniture, umbrella cushions, and other accessories. When we were there, they were making room for spring and BBQ grills.
Nursery Department
In their nursery, they carry a large variety of water-wise shade loving plants, drought tolerant plants, and rain barrels. I love that there's a complimentary Potting Bench at Orchard Supply. Drop it off while you shop, and they will do it for you for free with a purchase of a plant and pot! Don't have a green thumb and you bought it from OSH? If you are an Orchard Member, they can track your purchases and will replace your plant for free!
WorkBench Services
They offer services like pipe cutting, threading any length, rescrewing, rekeying, glass installation, and sharpening. Here is an example of what they will cut: keys, chain & cable, rope, screen, tubing & hose, hardware cloth, rolled sheet goods, carpet runners, vinyl matting, cork, felt, rubber, glass, Lexan and more! |

Painted Spaces
As mentioned, Lowe's is their parent company, but they are smaller in size, because they want to give you 1:1 attention. However, they carry 3,300 colors with a color matching machine. They can pretty much match anything! Have leftover unwanted paint? They will recycle it for you up to 10 gallons! They are also a Paint Care Certified Center. DIY Copper Candle Pipe Candelabra
Looking for an easy custom-made project for Valentine's Day or a romantic night in? Watch how simple it is to make this Copper Candle Pipe Candelabra thanks to Orchard Supply Hardware!
Supplies you'll need for the base:
- 2 - 6" copper pieces
- 2 - 2.5" copper pieces
- 4 - elbow joints
- 1 - T-joint
- JB Weld to part epoxy
- Popsicle stick for applying
Supplies you'll need for the arms:
- 2 - 6" copper pieces
- 1 - 5" copper piece
- 3 - copper couplings
- 3 - long candles
Note: Be careful when handling the candelabra after the candles have been burning as it will be hot to the touch! As the copper tarnishes over time, polish the copper with extra-fine steel wool and seal with a clear coating.
The OSH store carried a ton of stuff like light bulbs, hardwares, work clothes/uniforms, garage storage, electrical, piping, plumbing, houseplants, pet section, DIY lamps, automotive, WiFi thermostats, kitchen accessories, storage, tools, and What-cha-ma-call-its. They're also a Craftsman brand retailer. We can't wait to go back for our next home projects.
