What's New for Ghost Town 75th Celebration @Knotts! #ghosttown75 #knotts

Knott's Berry Farm's Ghost Town is celebrating their 75th Anniversary this summer with all new fun interactive experiences where you become part of the story in Ghost Town Alive!; Mrs. Knott's Chicken Dinner Restaurant has been completely renovated; and GhostRider makes a thrilling comeback. We attended a media preview and have highlighted some of our favorites below!

Mrs. Knott’s Chicken Dinner Restaurant Reopens!

Here's a fun fact for you. Back in 1941, Walter Knott built a collection of old west buildings (now known as Ghost Town) to entertain the long lines of guests waiting for a seat at his wife's popular restaurant, Mrs. Knott's Chicken Dinner Restaurant. The rest is history! Now after a complete restoration, it's back open for business with a unique theme in each of the four dining rooms, a new full service bar serving signature boysenberry-infused cocktails, a new outdoor seating area, and guests will now get a text when their table is ready so they are free to go shopping at the California Marketplace. You will be impressed! Knott’s culinary team has carefully preserved the recipes so the quality of the food will not change.

GhostRider

Did you know that GhostRider was the last attraction commissioned by the Knott family? After spending about nine months to replace all 4,533 feet of track and re-profiling curves and banks, Ghost Rider is now the tallest, longest, fastest wooden roller coaster on the West Coast! It is super fast with three new "ore car" coaster trains providing speeds over 55 miles per hour. The first drop is a 108 foot drop!

Pan for Gold!

Looking to strike it rich? Be sure to check out the newly relocated Pan for Gold area now adjacent to GhostRider. With all new sluice boxes plus a great view of GhostRider, you are in for a lesson in panning that is sure to pay off. (This activity will cost $10 and you will get to keep some of the gold leaf flakes that you pan as a keepsake).

Ghost Town Alive!

New this Summer! Ghost Time comes alive! This fun interactive experience is great for all ages. Mingle with the citizens of Ghost Town, become the sheriff's deputy and swear in as an official Calico citizen for starters. For the first time ever, we can step inside the Assay Office, Sheriff's Office, Goldie’s Place, Town Hall, and the Bank! Do as much or as little as you want, the story line changes by the day.  Here are examples of some of the Ghost Town Alive! experiences:
  • Get a handlebar or walrus mustache applied at the Barbershop,
  • Try your luck at a game of cards with the sneaky Sheriff,
  • Meet the prospector and his trusty burro, Brutus,
  • Lock up the bandits in the town patty wagon,
  • Vote for the Mayor in the town election,
  • Register to become an official citizen of Calico,
  • Draw up hand-made wanted posters,
  • Visit the Livery Stable to meet the friendly equestrian team of horses and more!
This highly interactive experience is available all summer until September 5th from 10:00 am to 5:30 pm!

Blockbuster Beagle… on Ice!

Cool off from the heat and be prepared to be thrilled by our favorite Beagle on ice in the Charles M. Schulz Theatre. It's all about the dazzle of Hollywood with musical favorites from the past as well as some current favorites too. Be sure to check for show times. We love this show!

Calico Ghost Town Hoedown

Join the towns folks of Calico in Birdcage Square daily at 5:30 pm for a knee-slapping Hoedown. Don't be shy as you spin your partner and promenade through the crowd. The perfect way to end your Ghost Town live experience.

What a fun day at Knott's Berry Farm! GhostRider had me screaming for dear life, Mrs. Knott's Chicken Dinner Restaurant looks all new again plus the fried chicken & boysenberry pie is just as delicious as ever, and Ghost Town Live! had us running around town, but it's all in good fun. Watching my friend Catheryn's daughter talk to the citizens in town and actively participate in the endless missions was pretty cool. You can read more about their experience here. The town folk are super friendly so don't be shy, go up and talk to them, they will add a new way to enjoy Ghost Town. I learned things about Ghost Town I never stopped to notice before. My favorite was talking to the Sheriff and Mayor. They gave us hints and clues like when you register to become citizens of Calico in the City Hall, you can now vote for the next Mayor in their next daily election. Also you can get your name printed in the daily paper which is printed three times a day, but I didn't get a chance to complete that mission to find out how. We loved it! The experiences are all different and ongoing. We ran into a passholder and she has been back for several days. Don't miss all that Knott's 75th Anniversary has to offer this summer!
