We went to last night’s Family Autism Night at Pretend City. They host these family autism events most months and this month featured a “sensory-friendly” Halloween night of Trick-or-Treating. No tricks, just treats. In fact, there was no candy and nothing edible.
The evening especially designed for families affected by Autism, had no music and dimmed lights. It seems simple, but it made a world of difference. With the generous donations of OC Register and The Festival of Children’s Season of Caring, Possible Dream Grant, we all got in for FREE, but you needed to be the quick 80 families that scored tickets within the first 5 days of posting the event. It was completely SOLD OUT!
A ticket admitted 5 which meant you could bring the whole family and your child’s therapist to help them socialize with the other kiddos. (Generally on Family Autism Night, it’s still priced pretty low - $15 for 5 admissions. Regular admissions are $11 per person. You just can’t beat that.)
Treat Bag Craft
Once we checked in, we made treat bags. They had staff and volunteers to help you make one.
Creepy Bugs Invaded Pretend City!
Loved all the Halloween Décor!

Treat Stations
You know those timecards they usually hand out? They were also where the treat stations were! As we explored that area, we received a stamped upon completion and a treat.
What we scored!

We love Family Autism Nights at Pretend City because it is in a more relaxing environment - it’s not super crowded plus they offer staff assistance if you need the extra help.
