The other evening I went to the hilarious Dixie’s Tupperware Party at Segerstrom Center. Dixie Longate is one of the most successful Tupperware sellers in the world. She takes home parties to a whole new level as it is part show and part Tupperware party! The humor contains content that is suitable for adults, and will have you laughing out loud and may even bring you to tears as it did me.
You can't have a party without name tags (they make great icebreakers). I instantly felt like I was in for a fun evening as I made friends with other attendees before to the show.
The show is in the Samueli Theater providing an intimate and cozy theater experience. It was my first time in the theater, and I found my seat and my Tupperware catalog waiting for me. A few minutes before the show started, Dixie appeared. I do not want to spoil what happened next, but let’s just say I got to meet Dixie as she greeted all of her guests. The theater instantly transforms into an evening with friends.
What followed was a rollicking and hilarious, leg smacking, party. Dixie shares her story through the Tupperware ranks with all who attend, while demonstrating the familiar and still innovative, plastic products. Her motto of “You wouldn’t know it if I didn’t show it” provides for an evening that is unforgettable and highly entertaining.
Dixie gives us an intimate look at her life and offers a great perspective and attitude that is shared by her and Bonnie Wise, the woman that started a home party revolution back in the 1950’s. If you get a chance grab your best friend, and your checkbook because, yes it is actually a Tupperware party with raffle prizes and all, and get ready for a fun and unforgettable evening with Dixie. (Purchase of Tupperware is not required.)
Dixie's Tupperware Party is now performing at Segerstrom Center for the Arts through January 4, 2015!
