Rise of the Sea Dragon at Pirate's Dinner Adventure | @PirateDinnerCA #Review #PiratesDinnerAdventure

A few weeks ago, we were invited to a Pirate's Dinner Adventure in Buena Park. We've always wanted to go here so, of course, we said, Yes!!

When we arrived, we were handed an orange piece of paper with our table number to hand to our server. The orange is also our "pirate" color and team. Other colors are available and we were offered different pirate gear for purchase. We got our boys pirate bandannas for $3 each. (See picture below).

Here's a hot tip: There's a pre-show in the waiting area. You'll want to stand as closely as possible to the bar on the far left side. Then once your pirate appears, you'll want to follow right behind him for the best seating.

Check out our Pirate. Isn't he awesome? ARGHHHH

This was our server. He's in character too - AHOY, MATEY!

You'll see a high energy performance with sword fighting, battles, competitions, stunts throughout the show, aerial artistry, humor and a love story.

The beautiful Gypsy is not only gorgeous, she's also very much a part of the show. You'll be amazed by her aerial dancing. Aerial dancing in a Pirate show? Sure, why not?!

Dinner is served!
Came hungry? Not to worry. You'll get to choose between a garden salad or vegetable soup which comes out shortly after the show begins. Soft drinks and coffee are included.

For the main entree, we had a choice between roasted chicken or smoked ham with mashed potatoes or yellow rice, and mixed vegetables. We both picked the chicken. The kids had chicken nuggets, mac-and-cheese, and mashed potatoes. (See pictures below).

The Kid's Meal Option.

Dessert was chocolate fudge brownie with  vanilla ice cream - Yummy!

All Hands on Deck!

Love how they incorporate kids in the show! Pictured below, Captain Sebastian is converting the kids to Pirates. "I swear to be a good Pirate."

"More than 150 guests have the chance to play an actual role in each show as the evil Captain Sebastian the Black leads his crews of renegades to the ship, taunting the seaport 'villagers' (audience members) along the way. Even youngsters can be part of the action, donning costumes to row dinghies in a crucial pirate race around the lagoon or board the galleon to brave the dastardly Sebastian the Black. For one shining moment, the fantasies of would-be pirates of all ages become uncannily real in the interactive arena of Pirate’s Dinner Adventure."

In the scene below, the kids (pulled from the audience and dressed in costumes) capture Captain Sebastian. So fun to see my kid dressed up and in the show.

You might want to know:
  • Gun shots are loud and frequent (my kids were fine, but parents were asking me about this. Noise cancelling headphones might help if your child is sensitive to noise).
  • Photo ops at the end of the show! Get your cameras ready.
  • They also serve free appetizers before the show but you have to get there early.

My family and I enjoyed watching the Pirate's Dinner Adventure: Rise of the Sea Dragon and my kids wanted to wear the pirate bandanna the next day. Love how kid-friendly the show is and how they interacted with the audience. There are funny moments too so it's not all serious. Enter for a chance to win tickets below.

HISTARRGHY:
Pirate’s Dinner Adventure is the creation of its artistic directors, brothers Ramon and Antonio Riba of Spain. Well-known in Europe for their popular “La Scala” dinner shows in Barcelona, Madrid and the Canary Islands, the Ribas had a lifelong love of vintage pirate movies and dreamed of making new pirate movies of their own. Eventually that dream evolved into creating an interactive adventure that brings the pirate experience to life. The first Pirate’s Dinner Adventure opened in Orlando, Florida in 1996 and has thrilled more than 2 million guests. Heightened by the arrival of the Ribas’ long-time collaborator, trapeze artist and theatrical producer Imre Baross, as director of entertainment, the success of the Orlando show led to the opening of a second Pirate’s Dinner Adventure on the West Coast.
