Yesterday we were invited to attend a sneak peak of the new Menchie's in Laguna Niguel due to open this Saturday, July 12th! We met with the new franchisee owners (a father - daughter team), watch a waffle making demo, toured, met with Menchie, and sampled frozen yogurt.
Their Flavor-of-the-Month features the Heath bar along with Heath bar toppings. (Only available through July 31, 2014).
Their store is brightly colored and whimsical. Love that!
Menchie's yogurt comes from Scott Brothers Dairy (a California Dairy) which prides that their "smiley" California cows have not been treated with artificial growth hormones (rBST). They have over 400 flavors in their flavor bank with varieties including sorbet (non-dairy), non-fat, tart, no sugar added, and low fat. At Menchie's Laguna Niguel, they have 7 machines and 14 seasonal flavors (let's not forget the swirls), you'll be happy that they carry something for everyone.
Their waffles are made fresh daily.
As we toured the backroom, we learn that each machine is cleaned out weekly and is assigned a day of the week.
Interesting Fact: They receive weekly shipments. The yogurt can stay frozen for two years, takes three days to thaw, stay in the walk up to two weeks, and used in the yogurt hoppers/machines for three days. Their storage is completely clean and organized. They also have a balloon blow up station in the back.
