Taste of LA County Fair’s Food 2015 Now through 9/27!

It’s that time of year again. The sights, sounds, and smells of the Los Angeles County Fair are back again in Pomona starting on Friday, September 4th and runs through the 27th. One thing that always keep people coming back year after year (besides the rides, attractions, and furry critters) is the food! The kind of food that makes some of us feel guilty, but we do it anyway. Yesterday, I went to check out some of the Fair Favorites and sampled a few new ones. Here are a few of my top picks!

Catheryn’s Top Picks at the LA Fair
Chicken Charlie is your one stop shop for everything you can imagine Fried. They also fry up things that you didn’t even know COULD be fried like Fried Guacamole or Fried Slim Fast Bar. For a non-fried option, try their Teriyaki Chicken Pineapple Bowl. It’s super tender and not over-marinated. I highly recommend it!

So Ricco’s Italian Ice has these amazingly delicious drinks made with real fresh fruits and veggies. Above is the Mango Michelagua with a chili rim. It’s the drink to get at the LA County Fair! Additional flavors are strawberry, watermelon, and my other two favorites – pineapple with spinach and cucumber all with the chili rim. They will also be offering Chamoyeadas which are shaved ice cups filled with syrups and chili. So good on a hot day at the Fair right?

Top Sweet & Favorite Snack

At first glance, the bad boys below appear to be standard donuts, but they are actually Chuck Wagon’s Deep Fried Apple Rings. They’re fried like donuts and covered in cinnamon and sugar served warm with a light whipped cream for dipping. Drool factor 10! For a great option to share (or for yourself), you just can’t go wrong with their Blooming Onion. Their dipping sauce is really good and not overpowering. Other items on the menu are Deep Fried Corn, Deep Fried Battered Corn, and Deep Fried Pork Roll.

Another tasty offering I was brave enough to try were Lori’s Concessions’ Tasti Potato Chip Nachos, these came with cheese and bacon on top and come in other choices as well. The chips were really good! They’re also great plain. Other items to look for are their new Cuban Fusion Burger and Jalapeno Cheese GF Tasti Chips.
And if you love Pink’s Hot Dogs, well they are serving up many of their staples like their Jalapeno Dog, or you can try one of their Gluten-Free Wraps.

So if you are planning on attending this year’s LA County Fair, prepare and pace yourself! Your eyes will be bigger than your stomach. Oh, and don’t forget to check out Luminasia in it’s final year at the LA Fair. The Fair runs now thru September 27th. See you at the Fair!
