RECAP: Disney's Beauty and the Beast Broadway Hit Musical at Segerstrom Center for the Arts | @SegerstromArts #BeOurGuestOC

I went on a Date Night with my baby sis this week. She's super preggo at the moment so I thought it would be nice to spend some quality girl-time together before baby arrives. We both love theater and musicals so Disney's Beauty and the Beast came at the most perfect time!

Disney's Beauty and the Beast was AMAZING! We just loved the costumes, the singing, and the dancing. Hilary Maiberger played Belle perfectly, Darick Pead made a strong Beast, and Tim Rogan, as Gaston, was Jim Carrey-funny.

One of my favorite scenes was when they were dancing and singing in the tavern. Clinking their beer mugs became a part of their dance - Very creative!

And of course, everyone loves it when they sing "Be Our Guest." It was very visual and fun. You're going to love that part! The classic story of Disney's Beauty and the Beast never gets old.

Here are some facts about the production provided by Segerstrom Center:
  • The Disney's Beauty and the Beast musical ran more than 13 years on Broadway.
  • Disney's Beauty and the Beast is the 8th longest running musical in Broadway history.
  • The musical score of Disney's Beauty and the Beast contains 6 songs from the Academy Awards nominated feature film, one song cut from the film was restored for the musical, and includes 6 original songs written for the musical.
  • There is a hidden "Mickey" in the tavern set drop... see if you can spot it!
  • The production uses 580 costume pieces including some from the original Broadway costumes.
  • There are 67 LED lights on the magic mirror.
  • There are 36 mugs in Gaston's tavern.
  • The plate rail in Be our Guest weighs almost 1 ton!

Pre-Show Activities:

No matter who you decide to take with you, you'll want to arrive early and I'll tell why...

Reason #1. Photo Op: Take a picture of your princess in front of the enchanted castle. (Hint: you might want to do this first as the line can get long).

Reason #2.  Enjoy Beauty and the Beast-themed cocktails such as "The Enchanted Rose" or "Old as Time".

Reason #3. Enjoy a Rose Cupcake by Patina Pastry. (Hint: Take a picture of your princess holding it).

Reason #4.  Check out the merchandise. It's always fun to dress up, and it was the perfect excuse to try on the tiara. There was a key chain/locket that I had my eye on.  (Wish I went ahead and got it for myself).

Reason #5. Pre-Show Activity Craft.  Your princess might enjoy making this craft.

There were lots of little princesses there that night dressed in Disney Princess Belle dresses. Too adorable!

Thanks, Beauty and the Beast and Segerstrom Center for the Arts, for a wonderful evening with my sister! I can't wait to meet my new niece and tell her all about the time when I took her mama to go see Disney's Beauty and the Beast. =)
