We received tickets to review this show.
ONCE opened in OC at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts on Tuesday, August 19th. Based on the 2007 Academy Award-winning film, this musical tells a love story of a struggling musician whose career flourishes after meeting the love of his life.
Before the show and during intermission, members of the audience can join some of the cast on stage to enjoy drinks and a mini-performance.
The lead actors "Guy" (Alex Nee) and "Girl" (Dani de Waal) were adorable together. Their voices and musical abilities (Guy with his guitar and Girl with her piano) complimented each other perfectly.
My husband and I had a fun night out and enjoyed the performance. ONCE blew us away with their cast of talented musicians. The set design and story line was minimalistic, but the performers were amazing. The whole cast played an instrument, danced, sang and acted. We were impressed by the choreography as props were placed and removed on stage in the midst of a scene. We also have never seen the movie, before but after watching the Broadway performance, we can’t wait to rent it.
ONCE, winner of eight Tony Awards including Best Musical and winner of the 2013 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album, is now performing at Segerstrom Hall through August 31st!

How Did You Meet?
This was cute. Couples were invited to share their stories of how they've met.
