Would you like to see real whale or dolphin in the wild then explore the aquarium all in one day? Well, now is
your chance. You can witness a diversity of whale and dolphin species in
the waters off Long Beach such as migrating gray whales, orcas,
humpbacks, fin whales, dolphins, and more! Harbor Breeze Cruises and the Aquarium of the Pacific are now offering a Gray Whale Watch Combo ticket that makes for a great experience.
Embark aboard a specialized, high-speed catamaran docked next to the Aquarium for a 2 to 2.5 hour cruise. You can sit inside the boat (where it is warmer and not as windy) or outside (where you can feel the ocean breeze). If you get sea sick like me, I recommend sitting or standing outside. The fresh air really helps! The cruise include informative live commentary, provided by experienced staff and knowledgeable Aquarium of the Pacific educators. You will learn about marine life, migration, conservation, and more!
That day we were lucky and saw 8 or 9 whales on our cruise (mostly gray whales and fin whales), many dolphins and a few sea lions.
As part of the combo package, we then headed to the Aquarium of the Pacific and explored the award-winning Whales: Voices in the Sea multimedia exhibit. We listened to the whales and learned how they communicate. The exhibit is made possible by the Pacific Life Foundation and was developed by the Scripps Institution of Oceanography with the Aquarium of the Pacific.
