Show Review of National Acrobats of China: PEKING DREAMS #SCFTA

We attended as media to preview Peking Dreams performed by Beijing's National Circus and Acrobats of the People’s Republic of China at the Segerstrom Center in Costa Mesa. The acrobatic acts were incredible and amazing to watch! There was less theatrical and showmanship extras, but instead we watched in awe by the incredible abilities displayed by these amazing individuals.

I watched as they balanced spinning discs on 5 ft. long sticks while one act featured a strong athletic man with the ability to carry his full body weight on a spinning pole with such grace and poise greater than our Olympic gymnasts. One of my favorite acts contained 10-15 guys running and jumping through 1-2 and 4 metal hoops. Their timing, form and showmanship were fantastic to see live. The breathtaking Chinese dances in uniforms took us back to possibly a time where there may have been entertainers performing for the Emperor. Kids were allowed, however, no photography is allowed inside. Make sure you come on time, because it has to be quiet in between acts before you are allowed in the doors. The performances require a lot of concentration so if you have restless little ones maybe a babysitter is needed.
