Our last days of summer are coming to an end. Why not plan a picnic with the family on the beach? Last week we did just that with Sessions Sandwiches in Newport Beach. It was the perfect timing, because we wanted to check out the high tides so we ordered take-out and enjoyed it in Newport Beach. During week nights, scoring street parking shouldn't be a problem.
Sessions Sandwiches carry both hot and cold sandwiches. Here are a few from the menu that we tried (from left to right):
- MeltDown - comes with ham, swiss & muenster cheese, caramelized onions, and a creole mustard sauce.
- Summer Zephyr - comes with mozzarella, basil aioli, baby arugula, and marinated tomato.
- Greatfella - comes with ham, capicola, salami, provolone, onions, cherry pepper, and a vinaigrette dressing.
- Meddock Melee - comes with turkey, swiss cheese, guacamole, tomatoes, onions, cherry peppers, sprouts and a buttermilk dressing.
If you prefer a salad, they have those too. You can choose between salads like Margherita, Thai Cobb, and Charlie. We tried their Charlie Salad which came with jalapeno-dilled albacore, mixed greens, pickled beet, tomato, cucumber, sprouts, scallions, and a vinaigrette. It was refreshing, tasty, and very enjoyable.
Their side dishes have an extra charge which range from $1 to $7. We were savoring their tomato soup and the yummy crunchy buttery croutons. Other sides we tried (from left to right) were the pasta salad, potato salad, cucumber salad, and bbq chips.
KID'S SANDWICHES
For kids, they can choose any of these sandwiches: meatball, turkey and cheese, tuna, toasted cheese, or PB&J.
