It's National No Kid Hungry Awareness Month. This month Denny’s is raising funds for Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry® campaign (a national movement aimed at ending childhood hunger by connecting kids with healthy food where they live, learn and play). This table tent was found on our table. Some of us will pick it up and read it, others will not.
What is astonishing is even after studies have shown that kids who eat breakfast tend to do better in school (attend class, perform better on tests, and 20% more likely to graduate high school), we still have kids going to school hungry. Check out this infographic about California!

BREAKFAST IS SO IMPORTANT!
When our oldest son was in Kinder, we got a note from his teacher asking us what time he went to bed, and what he ate for breakfast. We were a little taken back, but she was concerned because he seemed unfocused and sluggish in the first couple of hours of her class. The following day we took her suggestion and started bedtime an extra 30 minutes earlier, woke up an extra 15 minutes earlier, and added protein into his breakfast. After only a few days, his teacher reported she saw almost immediate results. We're always rushing out the door, but now we always make time for breakfast.

“Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry effort is by far one of our nation’s most important, most influential and impactful campaigns aimed at ending childhood hunger in this country to-date, and Denny’s is proud to be a partner in the movement for the fourth year in a row,” said Denny’s Chief Executive Officer John Miller. “With one in five children struggling with hunger in the U.S., Denny’s remains committed to No Kid Hungry and in the organization’s efforts to increase school breakfast participation nationwide, thereby bettering our kids’ academic, health and economic futures.”
SAMPLE DINNER MENU
Last night the family and I went to Denny's for dinner, and we wanted to also show our support for No Kid Hungry. It was also Kids Eat Free Night (some restrictions may apply)! I wanted an entree salad so I ordered their Prime Rib Cobb Salad. I liked it! It came with avocado, boiled eggs, shredded cheese, and grape tomatoes.

Darren DID NOT want to share his Avocado Bacon Cheeseburger with me.

Both my kids ordered a kid's spaghetti which came with a side item of choice. It was the perfect proportion, and they both finished their dinner. BTW, we love Kid's Free Night, and Denny's Kid's Menus make ordering simple with colored pictures! TIP: Hand your kids one of the crayons and ask them to circle their order. Also, by going over the options with them, it will help them learn the names. Mine will usually eat what they order. Works great!

STRAWBERRY PANCAKE PUPPIES SUNDAE
FINALLY! I have been dying to try their Strawberry Pancake Puppies Sundae. Just cutting into it alone says it all! It came out nice and warm, and you'll finish it before all the ice cream melts.

WE DONATED!
At the end of our dinner, we donated to No Kid Hungry. For a $3 donation, they gave us coupons ($9 worth) to use on our next visit.

“We are grateful for Denny’s continued commitment,” said Billy Shore, co-founder of Share Our Strength. “It matches the commitment of our nation’s teachers who see their students regularly coming to school hungry and who know that academic success can be measured in meals—especially breakfast in the school day. By dining out at your local Denny’s, pledging your support online or even just buying a t-shirt, you’re helping every child get that most important meal of the day and making No Kid Hungry a reality.”
