RECAP: When I Grow Up Day at Pretend City | @PretendCity #WIGUD2014

On Aug 22nd, Pretend City Children's Museum celebrated their 5th birthday with "When I Grow Up Day". We had the pleasure of celebrating the occasion with cake, a dance party, and meeting with local professionals. It was a great opportunity for the kids to explore what they want to do "When They Grow Up."

One of wonderful things we did that day was to learn about Zookeepers. The Santa Ana Zoo sent a few animals including a snake and a millipede. We were very excited to learn that new babies were born at the Zoo (a howler monkey, a colobus, two golden lion headed tamarins, and an anteater). We are looking forward to visiting them at the Zoo!

What a treat! William enjoyed meeting with two OC Park Rangers, and I was proud to see my brave son pet a fox, a mountain lion, and a skunk. He also loved petting a bearded dragon and a snake. We can't wait to look for these animals on our next OC Park hiking trip!

Julie loved meeting with Mrs. California Outstanding Married Woman 2014 - Desiree Pagliuso. She even tried on her tiara! She had the biggest smile on her face and kept saying, "She's so pretty."

One of my favorite moments was when one of the coast guards lifted my daughter by her life jacket to make sure it would not go over her nose, she laughed so hard she snorted. We also learned how to properly put on a life jacket on children. Be safe! Water safety is important and can save lives.

There were many other professionals like Firefighters, Police Officers, Lifeguards, a Banker, a Food Bank Worker, a Veterinarian, Musicians, a Fine Artist (clay sculpting and drawing), a Librarian, a Make-up Artist, an Arthotist/Prosthetist, an Illustrator, a Dentist, Cheerleaders from Angels Strike Force, and even an iPhone Case Designer. It was truly an amazing experience to be able to meet them in person and ask them questions.

Pretend City Children's Museum's annual "When I Grow Up Day" is a wonderful opportunity to meet with local professionals and to learn about different career possibilities in a fun and interactive way.
