5 Things to Try at California Pizza Kitchen #NewCPK

It's National Pizza Month! Have you visited California Pizza Kitchen (CPK) recently? Most recently we went in to taste the new menu at CPK, and we noticed our location has made some nice updates to their fixtures. Here are five things to try at new CPK!

#1 - Throw Pizza Dough!

The manager came over and asked us if the kids wanted to go back to the kitchen and toss some dough around. As you can see from the smiles on their faces below, my boys had a great time making their own pizzas. I really want to try this next time for their birthday party, because their friends would love it, and who doesn't love pizza?

#2 - Avocado Club Egg Rolls

These are not the egg rolls that my husband and I grew up to, but we love how the avocado, chicken, tomato, Monterey Jack cheese and Applewood smoked bacon just melts together in a crunchy wonton crust. The egg rolls also come with ranchito and herb ranch dipping sauces.

#3 Hearth-Roasted Halibut
New on their menu is this roasted wild caught Alaskan Halibut which is served with grilled asparagus and butternut squash farro. It is Delicious and now one of our favorite dishes at CPK.

#4 - Shrimp Scampi Pizza

If you like pizza with a kick, their Shrimp Scampi Pizza has lemon garlic shrimp, caramelized onions, and red chili topped with Parmesan, mozzarella, fresh arugula and wild Greek Oregano. It's Spicy!

#5 CPK's Butter Cake!

This is not a new item on the menu and our visit was not just about the new items, but trying new things. The description says it all. "Trust us. Just try it!" It comes out warm and has a side of housemade whipped cream. (Häagen-Dazs vanilla ice cream is optional.) We are hooked! It was one of the best desserts we've ever had!

We were already big fans of California Pizza Kitchen, because they are family-friendly and they have something for everyone on the menu. The visit had us go in and try new things different than the items we normally would order, and I'm so glad we did that because we found new things we really enjoyed like the Halibut, the Butter Cake, and the dough toss.
