| America's Family Pet Expo (c) Let's Play OC! |
Last weekend we were invited to check out AMERICA’S FAMILY PET EXPO at the OC Fairgrounds. It was our first visit and if you are a Pet-Lover, this is the event for you. (Note: We currently don't own a pet but have had them in the past, and will again in future when I no longer have to change diapers and when my kids can help me with them).
Here are some of the things that we liked:
Meeting the Celebrity Pets and learning that some are rescued animals was pretty neat (most of them are adopted from a breeder). For example, did you know that Mick (aka Stan) from Disney's
Dog with a Blog show was adopted from a shelter?

Not only was this photo with Disney's
Super Buddies printed shortly after, but they also emailed us a copy.

Dogs of The Amazing Doberman Show are also all rescued dogs.

Pet Adoption Opportunities
It was really nice to see that they made it easy to adopt animals. I also liked the convenience of all the vendors there so if I needed to get some accessories, they were right there to answer my questions.

If you're in the market for an exotic pet, you might like all the different selections. (These baby leopard or sulcata tortoises were available for $75 and $150.)

Friends of Anaheim Police K9
Friends of Anaheim Police K9 are police service dogs. They dedicate their lives to protect their partners. What happens to the friends when they retire? They get adopted by their masters, but it takes a lot of resources to keep them.
Friends of Anaheim Police K9 Association volunteers raise funds to benefit the retired police service dogs of the Anaheim Police Department and need our support.
They were selling merchandise that weekend and 100% of the profits benefited the retired police
service dogs.
We wanted to support them so we bought this furry friend for $6. My kids love it.
Competitions and Resources
Kids Aquarium Contest participants received: a ten (10) gallon aquarium with light and full hood (Tank: 20”L x 10”W x 12”H), 50 watt heater, ten gallon size power filter, thermometer, chemicals to condition water, fish food, and a net for fish. All the contestants had to bring their own decorations, background, gravel and fish.
Our favorite was this LEGO SpongeBob aquarium.
